James Nozar is Chief Development Officer of Method Co and President of Method Development, where he is a member of the Executive Team and leads the firm’s real estate acquisitions and development activities. Method Co is a leading real estate development and hospitality owner and operator, known for its innovative and design-forward properties, including dozens of acclaimed hotels, social clubs, restaurants and bars spanning across ten states.

Prior to joining Method Co, James was the Managing Partner and Founder East+Main where he provides strategic real estate advisory services to institutions, developers, and landowners nationwide. With decades of institutional experience and expertise in metro areas across the country, James’ portfolio of work includes some of the most complex and transformative large-scale projects in the country, totaling over $6 billion in investment and 8 million square feet of new mixed-use development.

James was also the founding CEO of Strategic Property Partners (“SPP”), a real estate developer, owner and operator based in Tampa, Florida, where he built a full-service development company while concurrently leading the master planning, design, and construction of the $2 billion first phase of the Water Street Tampa project. As one of the largest urban redevelopment projects in the United States, Water Street spans across 42 acres in downtown Tampa and has delivered over 5 million square feet of trophy-quality hotel, office, retail, and residential assets surrounded by 16 acres of new public space. Passionate about the built environment and how it can positively shape surrounding communities, James helped shape the vision of Water Street Tampa, the mix of building typologies, the various design collaborators, and the neighborhood’s interwoven relationship with its expansive public realm.

Prior to joining SPP, James was a Senior Vice President of Development with JBG Smith (“JBG”) in Washington D.C. where he focused on the firm’s acquisition and development strategy. During his ten-year tenure with JBG, James shaped the vision and conceptual program, entitlements, design and execution of 25 multi-use real estate projects totaling over 10 million square feet.

James was also a real estate consultant for E&Y and RCLCo after receiving a B.S. in Building Construction and Certificate in City Planning from Georgia Tech, where he was a 4-year Letter winner on the swimming team, a 2-year captain and All-American athlete.

James is the former Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Tampa Bay Economic Development Council and a member of the Board of Directors for the Georgia Tech Alexander-Tharpe Fund and the Georgia Tech College of Design Advisory Board. He is also active in various industry organizations including the Urban Land Institute (ULI)
