Victoria “Vic” Isley is a passionate traveler, lover of food, water, wine & music, Carolina Girl, farmer’s daughter and more.
Isley joined the Bermuda Tourism Authority (BTA) as Chief Sales & Marketing Officer in June 2014, bringing two decades of destination marketing experience to energize tourism to the island. Based out of New York City, she oversees BTA’s integrated, global marketing and sales efforts. Isley participated in a core bid team to land the 35th America’s Cup sailing event for the island in 2017. Along with a passionate BTA team and partners, Isley was a part of turning around the island’s tourism industry in 2016, marked by a 17% increase in air arrivals that continues through 2017.
As a travel marketing professional with more than 20 years of experience, she’s worked for destinations including the island country of Bermuda; Washington, DC; Tampa Bay, Florida and Durham, North Carolina. Solidifying her dedication to place marketing, she was Chief Operating Officer for Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI), the world’s largest destination marketing trade association, representing 600 organizations worldwide. She also operated as the Executive Director of DMAI’s Foundation. In recognition of her accomplishments, Isley was named one of Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International’s (HSMAI) Top 25 Minds in Hospitality & Travel Sales Marketing in 2016, receiving the Gene T. Hassett award.
Isley served as Destination DC’s Senior Vice President of Marketing & Communications for nearly a decade, leading the United States capital’s new brand strategy, building research and strategy for organizational advocacy, and spearheading crisis communications. During her tenure with Destination DC, Isley was the organizational marketing lead for high profile initiatives including tourism recovery efforts following 9/11, the dedication of the National World War II Memorial and the inauguration celebration for President Barack Obama.
Prior to her tenure at Destination DC, Isley served as Vice President of Marketing for Tampa Bay & Company, promoting the site of the NFL Super Bowl, NCAA Final Four and NHL All-Star Games. As Director of Communications for the Durham Convention & Visitors Bureau, she launched one of the first websites in the country for a DMO.
A 1991 graduate of the University of North Carolina with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and marketing, Isley has served as a past chair of the U.S. Travel Association’s research committee as well as a member of the board of directors for Public Relations Society of America’s Travel and Tourism sector.
