Josh Wyatt

CEO | NeueHouse

Mr. Wyatt is the CEO of Neuehouse and an entrepreneur and investor in the hospitality sector, credited with creating and scaling the world’s first design led, global hostel business – Generator Hostels. In addition to Generator, Josh has overseen and grown several hospitality brands in his career, with a particular focus in the luxury lifestyle hospitality space. After a successful $550m exit for Generator Hostels in May 2017, as well as leading the initial launch of Equinox Hotels, Josh launched a consultancy business in the hospitality and lifestyle space focusing on the intersection of hospitality, brand and community driven business models. In the past year, his projects have included assembling the luxury lifestyle hotel strategy for Meyer Bergman’s £500m Whiteleys project in London, assisting Gaw Capital in the purchase of the Standard Highline, and serving as an advisor to the Neuehouse Board of Directors.

Prior to launching his consulting initiative in summer 2017, Josh joined Equinox in May 2016 as President of its new Hotel division to lead the rollout of the Equinox luxury lifestyle hotel brand. During his tenure, Josh collaborated closely with Harvey Spevak, Chairman of Equinox Holdings and Related Companies (Owner of Equinox) to formulate an overall strategy and business plan for the launch of Equinox Hotels in six major US markets including New York, LA, Chicago, Seattle, Houston, and San Francisco.

Prior to Equinox, Josh spent 11 years in real estate private equity focusing exclusively in hotels and leisure sector investments. In 2006, he created the hospitality and leisure division for Patron Capital, a large real estate private equity fund, where he served for 11 years as a Partner and Senior Advisor.  In 2007 with Patron as lead backer and Invesco as a co-investor, he created the world’s first design-led, lifestyle hostel concept with the launch of Generator Hostels.  He grew Generator into a global platform with 8600 beds in 14 properties and 10 countries, and subsequently refashioned the hostel asset class into an institutional asset class. As of 2018, every property in Generator, including its recent USA launch in Miami Beach, was signed, designed and concepted by Josh and his design team.

Mr. Wyatt has also been featured in numerous business, lifestyle and trade publications covering hostels and shared accommodation including the Financial Times, New York Times, Bloomberg TV, Elle Magazine, Lodging Magazine, Architectural Record, Sleeper, Skift, Hospitality Design and the Wall Street Journal.

Josh received his B.A. in International Studies & Economics from American University (1996) and his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School (2005).
