In the Margins is ILC's annual publication that is curated to activate a unique dialogue within our community at large. We want to prioritize the innovative side, fueled by creativity, because we believe that's what makes you indie.  So often do we engage through email chains and networking opportunities; In the Margins is the chance to break the mold and surprise people...you may even surprise yourself.

We are in search of creative submissions! Any of the following are welcome: original poems, short essays, traditional art mediums, digital artwork, photography. We want artists to take inspiration from the words Connect, Wellness, Luxury, and Personalization- but don't be too literal, out-of-the-box thinking is what breaks the mold.

What IS hospitality, really?

Define one (or multiple) of the commonly over-used

words we often hear in the Hospitality Industry.

No, don't go to Google to find a definition,

tell us what these words mean to YOU!

Elvina Beck, PodShare

In 2012, Elvina asked why we must commit to one address, set roommate(s) and when we travel, pay two rents (our storage unit at "home' and where we physically sleep on the trip).
A membership-based housing network made a lot of sense - like a gym subscription where you share machines in a large open space. Elvina also grew up on MTV's Real World - seeing diverse casts and rotating cities. Transportation became increasingly cheaper and accessible for all...but Airbnb and hotels average $130 per night...
Elvina leased a live/work unit in Hollywood as her MVP, and after 3 years crowdfunded a DTLA location, inked a joint venture in Los Feliz, borrowed private money to open Venice, a bank loan for Westwood, and then managed the profits to open San Francisco and San Diego.
Elvina was born in the USSR in 1985, grew up in Brooklyn, graduated from Pepperdine, worked in front & behind the camera before building PodShare because she needed a place to live after the recession almost made her homeless.                    IG: podshare
