"Born and raised in Philadelphia, Taylor Nickens, is the Director of Programming at REC Philly. She is a powerhouse of energy, enthusiasm and valor, capped off with an infectious smile. A 2017 graduate of SMU, she holds a BS in Health and Society and minors in both Spanish and Photography. While there, she was recognized for her leadership as president of SMUs campus chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, and published in the NCBI for her biomedical research. Her photo work has been published in Billboard and DJ Booth. Taylor’s hard work and aura manifested into a featured article printed in the Feb 2020 issue of Marie Claire magazine’s ‘Philadelphia and Style Section’. Her present and most pressing endeavor is the creation of SIS, LLC, which is scheduled to launch a mother-daughter retreat on Mothers Day weekend of this year. She is building this platform in support of her desire to strengthen and heal the relationship between black mothers and daughters with a primary emphasis on holistic mental health.
As an “empath” at heart, Taylor utilizes her energy to curate photowalks throughout the city and create unforgettable experiences for those who seek to step outside of their comfort zone in Philadelphia and beyond. Simply put, she makes things happen."
