Matt joined Pacifica in 1998 after several years on Wall Street in New York. He became CEO in 2010 and the portfolio has since grown to over 40 owned and managed assets. In recent years, Matt alongside his brother Adam, accepted the challenge of revamping the Pacifica portfolio of coastal properties, dropping brand flags and repositioning with contemporary, boutique design. With this vision in mind, Pacifica Design Group was launched, responsible for producing innovative design for new and existing properties to maximize position and profitability in the marketplace. The results were incredible as the company experienced significant gains in profitability and developed a reputation as a leader in the industry for design and repositioning. In 2012, Pacifica Hotels took on a very unique hospitality project – a hotel-hostel concept located in Santa Barbara. This 31-room venture was the birthplace of The Wayfarer – a lifestyle brand for the independent traveler rooted in local culture and shared experience. The second Wayfarer location is slated to open in Downtown LA later this year with 156 private and shared guest rooms, high design, an eclectic food and beverage mix, social venues, local live entertainment, and The Kitchen at the heart of it all. In addition to The Wayfarer, Pacifica Hotels has another internal brand, The Kinney.
