Madeline Barbush started in February 2020 as Business Development Associate for Independent Lodging Congress. She leads all partnerships & sponsorships for ILC - both on-going and new.

Madeline Barbush started in March of 2020 as the new Business Development Associate for Independent Lodging Congress.

Before re-establishing herself in Philadelphia in January 2020, Madeline was living and working in various cities of Spain and Mexico. There she deepened her passion in art, travel and language by working in various roles for a diverse range of institutions like MUNAL (National Museum of Art of Mexico City), the Spanish Ministry of Education and Culture, Philadelphia Museum of Art and The Japan Times.  

Madeline plans to bring her traveling experience to the new position of ILC and to integrate herself in the Philadelphia art scene once again. She graduated from Tyler School of Art at Temple University with a B.A. in Art History.

Favorite place to stay when traveling:
Comfortable bed and cool neighborhood are most important.

Favorite place to stay when traveling:
A one of a kind place. Somewhere deep rooted in the community….with great F+B

MUST have travel item:
Google maps. I have problems navigating my own hometown.

Biggest extravagance or vice:
Dressing to elevate my mood.

Who in the industry inspires you?
Anyone mindful of their effect on a neighborhood. Anyone who restores rather than rebuilds.

Something ILC attendees would never guess about you?
I am the middle child of 7. Everyone is surprised to hear that number, and/or forgets it about me.

Who would play you in a movie:
I would like to say someone majestic like Tilda Swinton or any actress from the French New Wave, but realistically it’d be someone like Ilana Glazer. Who is majestic in another sense.

First job:
Very part-time sales associate at a uniform store, Flynn & O’Hara . As a catholic school girl, I lived in uniforms until the age of 18. I was over qualified for the position.

First job:
Lifeguard.
