John Grossman is President of Grossman Company Properties (GCP) and its affiliate Classic Hotels & Resorts (CH&R). He is responsible for the development and design management of CH&R projects, and directs all aspects of project conception, branding, marketing and programming.
GCP is a premier commercial and residential developer, having developed and managed more than 14 million square feet of high-quality properties throughout the Western United States. Its affiliate CH&R has repositioned a number of notable boutique hotels and independent resorts including Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa, La Playa Carmel, Hotel Carmel, The Inn at Laguna Beach, Laguna Beach House and The Scott Resort & Spa. CH&R is the first hotel management company to join 1% For the Planet and currently owns and manages more than 1,275 independent hotel rooms.
Prior to joining Grossman Company in 2010, John spent a half-decade overseas in Sydney, Australia working with Greengate Property Group, a local developer specializing in Aged Care Accommodation throughout New South Wales and Queensland. Previously, John worked at Work Force Housing Associates, a San Francisco based developer specializing in affordable housing projects throughout the Bay Area.
John received his Master of Property and Development from University of New South Wales, and a BA in Communication from the University of Colorado at Boulder’s College of Media, Communication and Information. He is a member of Young Presidents’ Organization and Urban Land Institute and serves as a board member of Climate Ride. John played ice hockey at University of Colorado (ACHA Division I) and is a former professional whitewater kayaker, having competed throughout the United States, Canada and Europe; in 2003 he won the World Surf Kayaking Championship in Ireland.
